What documents are needed to enroll?
Upon acceptance, families will be directed to complete the registration packet within the SchoolMint application. Additional documentation includes the following:

Proof of residency: property deed, mortgage statement, lease, current utility bill, if the bills are not in your name, you must bring an Affidavit of Resident notarized by the person you live with and one of the utility bills.

Original birth certificate with raised seal (hospital birth certificate is not acceptable)or Passport

Transfer card from resident district. If enrolling into a school for the first time (i.e. kindergarten or after homeschooling), you will need to first register with your resident district. They will provide a transfer card for enrollment at Cresthaven Academy.

Does Cresthaven Academy offer sports programming?
Cresthaven Academy is excited to announce the partnership with the Charter School Athletic League for our Upper Campus scholars to offer sports in Flag Football, Basketball, Soccer, and Track and Field.

What are the school hours?
The school day for our lower campus, grades K-4, runs from 7:35 am - 3:25 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesdays, our lower campus scholars dismiss at 2:40pm to allow for staff professional development.
The school day for our upper campus, grades 5-8, runs from 7:25 am - 3:15 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Tuesdays, our upper campus scholars dismiss at 2:45pm to allow for staff professional development. -
Where is Cresthaven Academy located?
Cresthaven Academy has two locations. Students in grades K-4 are part of our lower campus located at 530 West 7th Street, Plainfield, NJ 07060. Students in grades 5-8 are part of our upper campus located at 7-9 Watchung Ave, Plainfield, NJ 07060.

Does Cresthaven Academy offer after-school programming?
Yes! Students enrolled at our lower campus, grades K-4, can apply for enrollment in the after school program. After school programming includes clubs, homework help, outside vendors, and more. Students enrolled in the upper campus, grades 5-8, also have the option to enroll in the Boys & Girls club located at 145 Park Ave, Plainfield NJ, teacher-lead clubs, tutoring, or sports. Stop at the main office for more information.

Does Cresthaven Academy provide transportation?
Cresthaven Academy coordinates with Plainfield Public Schools to provide bus transportation to and from school for students who qualify. In order to be eligible for transportation, students must live in Plainfield and at a distance of 2.0 miles away from their school building.

What if my child is placed on the waitlist?
Children placed on the waitlist will be called in the order of the lottery placement when and if seats open for that grade level.

What does in-district preference mean?
In-District preference is only for students who reside in Plainfield, NJ. They will perceive placement preference during the lottery before their out-of district counterparts.

Is there sibling preference?
Yes. Siblings of current Cresthaven Academy scholars will receive sibling preference during the lottery. Siblings must have an application on file in order to be considered for sibling preference.

When is the Cresthaven Academy public lottery held?
The random public lottery will be held February 24th, 2025. Applications for the 25-26 school year are due by midnight on February 17th.

How can I find out the results of the lottery?
Someone from the Cresthaven Academy front office or admissions office will reach out regarding your placement.

Can I still apply for the current school year?
Yes! Applications for the current school year are open during the school year. When you go to apply online, make sure to select the appropriate school year.

When can I apply for my child to attend Cresthaven Academy?
Anytime! Applications are open for the current and following school year throughout the calendar year. Applications will close one-week before the random lottery in February and will reopen a week later for those who wish to be added onto the waitlist.

Do you offer Free and Reduced Breakfast/Lunch?
Yes! Cresthaven Academy is proud to offer free breakfast and lunch to all scholars regardless of their Free/Reduced meal status. All families must still fill out the Meal and Summer EBT application on an annual basis to be considered for summer EBT benefits and to support our reporting efforts to the state. Families also have the option to opt-out of completing this application, however, they will automatically be marked as denied and will not be eligible for summer EBT benefits.

Does Cresthaven Academy charge tuition?
No! Cresthaven Academy is a tuition-free public charter school.

What are the requirements to apply?
Kindergarten Age Requirement: Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years old by October 1 of the year they plan to enter kindergarten. For the 2025-26 school year, children must be 5 years old by October 1, 2025.

Do we need to live in Plainfield to apply?
No! Plainfield residents do receive in-district preference when it comes time for the lottery. However, individuals living in any district are welcome to apply.
